Tune Hall #23 Now online: "Stop Center"

This is very catchy (#23) which includes new guest Keena Meetaroo who sings lead vocals. As always Jérôme Arsenault and Julian are all over the place while Jon Desjardins returns on bass and Martin Longpré returns on guitar.

We built a mountain and they climbed it!

On Monday May 28th we held our first ever performance at Quai des Brumes, officially launching our debut CD. A special team of musicians was assembled to play the songs from the album and then write/record/mix a new song, live on stage within an hour and a half. The musicianship was outstanding and they met the challenge with style and skill. Kudos to this outstanding team of timberwolves:

Over the next few days and weeks I should be posting photo's and likely a video (as they come in). So stay tuned! Special thanks will also due to Sébastien Poirier and Anne Hébert and we have some new friends who pitched in too, but I want to get everyone's name right before I officially thank them.

This is a great tune (#21) which includes two new Tune Hall inductees. Gabriel Meunier who plays guitar and Martin Ferguson on bass. We were joined once again by the hyper-talented Frédéric Lapointe on drums and Theremin. Jérôme Arsenault plays guitar and sings backups while Julian sings lead.

Things to come...

We submitted another song (Watashi wa) on GarageBand.com and it's climbing the charts. We've received more outstanding lister's choice reviews and awards including "Experimental Track of the Day" for this coming August 21st.

On August 25th we celebrate two years of Tune Hall with our first video release and a party for all Tune Hall contributors.

The pics from our May show are in. Many thanks are due to Sébastien Poirier who has without-a-doubt become our official photographer, because he took half the album photo's and now these and clearly the guy is good at it! Also, in the next couple of weeks Jon Desjardins plans to finish his montage video of the event and from what I've seen it's very VERY well done too! Sotay tuned!

Tune Hall performs successful first show

"We built a mountain and they climbed it!" - Julian Smit

On Monday May 28th TuneHall.com held its first ever performance at Quai des Brumes, officially launching the self-titled debut CD. A special team of musicians was assembled to play the songs from the album and then write/record/mix a new song live on stage within an hour and a half. The musicianship was outstanding and they met the steap challenge with style and proficiency. Kudos to this outstanding team of timberwolves:

The band really warmed up as the night progressed. "Their performance of Watashi wa was amazing" said a number of audience members. The audience played a big part in the direction of the song written on stage, choosing the tempo, the key, the genres. They chanted a recorded lyric "I'm your lover" and even answered questions to inspire the lyrics. Over the next few days and weeks Tune Hall will post photo's, the new song itself and likely a video (as they come in). So stay tuned!

CD RELEASE

On May 28 2007, at Quai des Brumes, Montreal, TuneHall.com will officially release its self-titled debut CD. This is the first time after nearly two years of development that Tune Hall has made an outreach for press and it’s also the first time Tune Hall will be put on stage.

Press are invited to a ‘5 à 7’ cocktail party before the show where they can meet the creators behind Tune Hall and some of the community musicians who have participated in the project. Some of whom will be performing live that evening.

“Frankly, we have a lot of thinking to do in very little time. Turning this into a stage act has always been a logistical challenge because every song is by a different team of musicians.” Says co-founder Julian Smit. His partner Jérôme Arsenault adds; “For the show you can expect to hear the songs from the album, but then we’re going to try to do what we always do (write and record a new song) only this time in less than a tenth of the normal time and in front of a crowd.”

This song features talented music guru Pierre De Gagné on guitars and mandolin. Pierre is a Music Professor at Musi-Technic and has an album in the works that should be out within a year. You can learn more about Pierre from his website: www.dragon-off.com.

Also, we were joined for a second time by Marie-Anne Arsenault, this time helping with the vocals. Julian Smit plays drums and sings vocals. Jérôme Arsenault plays bass, sings vocals and plays a `weaping like baby` guitar line.

Welcome to the New Tune Hall Site

Tune Hall upgrades what was already a cool website

The Tune Hall website is a big part of its identity, and today it finished some upgrades and well ahead of an upcoming CD release. "This is really going to help with communications" says co-founder Julian Smit. With most participants being francophone they needed to develop a simple system to work in both languages. "Also important for us was ensuring access to our material". There is a new media player embeded in the site which will load songs faster and work on more machines. Special thanks are due to Charles Hébert for his help in overhauling the website! Some other features include...
